Kaapse Liqueurs and Cape Spirits is synonymous with uniquely South African products such as Buchu Gin and Cape XO Buchu Brandy (minimum ten-year old blends of potstill brandies), and a range of unique liqueurs: Limoncello, Buchu Limoncello, Honeybush, Strawberry and the descriptive Pittekou (Granadilla).
Kaapse Liqueurs owner, Carol Mills, is a direct descendent of the first EK Green Castle Wine and Brandy Company, which dates back to 1814. EK Green merged with Van Ryn Wine & Spirits and Henry Collison to form SA Distilleries in 1902. In 1970, Oude Meester Cellars and South African Distilleries performed another merger, creating what is now known as Distell. Castle Wine and E.K Green Limited are now subsidiaries of the Distell Group.
EK Green’s head office was established in 1905 in Somerset Road, Green Point, where it now forms part of the trendy Cape Quarter (the E.K.Green signage on the facade can still be seen).
In 2013 Carol started selling her first product, Limoncello, and in 2016 she entered three liqueurs in the Michelangelo International Wine and Spirit Show and won two gold medals and a silver medal.
All products remain 100% hand-crafted, locally sourced and natural without artificial additives, colourants or preservatives are added to the liqueurs.
